I right click on desktop and select 'view' and I notice 'show desktop icons' is already ticked. I select it anyway and then select it again to make the icons appear. I have the same question In reply to nonbeliever's post on January 24, Some 3rd party Programs, GPedit in Busines, Ultimate and Professional have Group Policies that can be set to stop change which can cause that to re-occur.
